Week 13

Lately, these updates of mine are lacking any of my typical long-winded rambly-ish-ness because there just isn’t anything new to talk about. Surprise, surprise: it’s gonna be the same this week.

Seems like I have officially reached the point where progress is just going to be very, very slight week-to-week. Or I could wake up tomorrow looking like piping hot pepperoni pizza. Who knows. Either way, I’ll see y’all next week!

Week 12

My oh my, time for another weekly post. These come up way too fast and, as usual, I really don’t have much of anything new to report. I do see slight improvement from last week, and for any space that you may think looks slightly worse I’ll just blame on the fact that I committed the cardinal sin of going to bed on Friday night without washing my face. And then I slept for a really long time. Oh well, it happens.

I finally made my appointment for my next blood test, but otherwise I’m just gonna keep on trucking.

That’s all for now. À bientôt!

Week 11

Here we are at day 76, to be exact. Same old symptoms, nothing new. That oilyness I wrote about last week has gone back to the dry side of things. It’s all good, though.

I wouldn’t say there has been a whole lot of improvement from last week, but I know I’m light years away from where I was a couple weeks ago, so no complaints here.

I guess all I can do at this point is keep on keepin’ on. Thanks for reading.

Anonymous asked: Wow!! Your skin looks fantastic! I'm so proud and happy for your improvement :D Just wanted to say thank you for maintaining this blog; I'll be starting Accutane soon and your huge progress gives me lots of hope too :) You're almost there!

Thank you! I wish you all the best once you start! Just give it time and keep your head up, and before you know it you’ll be making progress, too. If you start a blog or anything to document your journey, drop me a line! I’d love to follow. :)

Week 10

My dermatologist appointment last week went well. Both the PA and the doctor seemed pretty pleased with my progress. My blood tests came back fine and for month 3 I will stay on 60mg/day. This dosage has seemed to work for me so far and we’ll just have to see how it goes.

I have maybe one active right now, and just a whole lot of old scarring still (or maybe it’s hyperpigmentation?).

My symptoms are the same, though my skin seems to be feeling less dry and more oily. Not sure what’s up with that. I’ve also gone back to using regular shampoo as opposed to shampoo specifically for an itchy scalp. It’s a nice change. :)

Week 9

I don’t have much to say. Didn’t have any new symptoms this week, still have all the old ones… Got my blood test done, and I go to the dermatologist on Tuesday.

I was outside a lot this weekend and managed to not get sunburned. I got a little tan, actually. I’m not complaining.

It looks like I have a few things to worry about under the surface; I’m guessing they’ll pop up in a day or so (woohoo, can’t wait). Otherwise, still trying to work on making the scars less visible. I am right at the 2-month mark now and ready to see how month 3 goes.

Week 8

Well, what can I say this week? Dry skin? Check. Lips in constant need of chapstick? Check. Itchy arms? Check. Slight rash on the back of my hands? Check. Occasional stiffness in my ankle joint? Check.

As you can see, I have this super red mosquito-bite lookalike that I’ve been trying to ignore all week. Hoping it dies down before I lose control and do something to it that I’ll probably regret later.

My blackheads have been bothering me for weeks, so a few nights ago I finally took the plunge and put a pore strip on my nose. My skin wasn’t feeling or looking irritated at all so I felt like I could escape without any major repercussions. It didn’t get rid of all my blackheads, but definitely made a noticeable difference.

Later this week I have an appointment for my blood test, and next Tuesday it’s back to the dermatologist to get ready for month 3. Good times, good times.

Week 7

This week I feel as if my skin is generally looking a lot less irritated and less red, actives are dying down, and now just I’m left with a lot of scarring. I’ve started to use cocoa butter for the scars and it seems to be helping so far.

The other week I wrote about how my forehead and chin have cleared up, so of course this week some actives decided to pop up there. Go figure. Other than that, there’s not much to say in this update. Same old, same old.

This is the best my face has looked in months, but I refuse to get excited about it because I don’t want to jinx anything…
